This game was awful. It was the same puzzle over and over again. The overall theme of the game was very hard to follow and one must devote way too much time to playing it. I had to force myself to play it but finally gave up and traded it in on something much better.
After creating a statistical analysis of seemingly random "drops" after eliminating pieces I've discovered the computer is given an advantage 73% of the time while the player a mere 32%. It successfully combines two different genres the RPG and the puzzle game. Overall I really wanted to enjoy this game. These advantages are based on either 3+ skulls falling causing further damage or 4+ chain thus leading to another turn (or any other advantages yourself or your opponent has). While all of this is well and good and playing the game 2P is quite enjoyable the aspect that troubles me is the progressively more aggressive AI we're finding in these games. While I enjoy a challenge in a game this game unfairly gives the AI advantages that are certainly not "luck". While others may find it funny that I compiled this information, this type of programming from game programmers in fact malevolent and should be seen as aggressively trying to overthrow humanity. Should one of these "video games" game intelligence, humanity stands no chance.
This game is so much fun. I bought it for myself and my kids think I'm corny but once they started playing it, they play it more than me.
I see the Orc defeating me, and I roll my eyes. I figured it out and I am one happy person. Well I changed my mind as I got into the game, and figured it out. I have stopped playing Ninja Gaiden.
Heheh. I had said this game was too hard and no hints. lol. It is fun, and addicting. I am stuck on an Orc who is hard to beat, and beats me every time.
I am addicted to this game. Just don't take it to work on your lunch break. I guess that's why they call it "manuals", but who likes to read the manual nowadays. I think about Puzzle Quest now. I will get past him tho, and get Darkhunters help.
When I sleep at night, I see the little images of the game in my mind. Get this game. I'm afraid too, as I will be late coming back.
Everything ties in together seamlessly, and all are very important to make the game easier to tolerate.The main quest, if that is your interest, can be quite short; however, this game has serious legs when it comes to the side quests, probably the biggest set of those on the DS. It's critical to not only have the right spells with you, but match the correct mana needed to cast them. In a genre that has been rehashed and redone ever since Final Fantasy appeared on the NES, along comes a game like Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords that challenges your perception of what an "RPG" is.For starters, you literally are building not only a character but a city which helps build your characters. And now, the thing that makes PQ:COTW most unique is the way you conduct battles, in a "bejeweled" format. If you are new to the RPG scene, and want to get a taste of it without insane level grinding and mind numbing puzzles, this is a great place to start as well.Hopefully there will be a sequel soon. Not only do those side quests add additional experience and gold as rewards, but you can also earn weapons and armor from them as well, saving your gold for upgrading your abilities.Who hasn't played an RPG that requires a great deal of "level grinding" in order to complete. I've read a lot about "cheap" combos the computer seems to get, but if you are playing the boards properly and managing your battle this should not hurt you very often.
I still have plenty of side quests I haven't accomplished yet, and there's 3 other characters to take through. Eventually in the game you'll be forging runes you've earned from searching into new weapons, armor and accessories, training "mounts" which boost various combat skills, and being able to lay "siege" to kingdoms which are the BEST way to raise gold in this game. All in all, just this part of the game alone make PQ stand out from the field.I got my copy at Best Buy for only $15 and it's one of the best purchases I have made in a video game. You can actually get around this in PQ:COTW by simply "donating gold" to increase your abilities, in fact, I would recommend you do this for abilities that normally would require 2-3 upgrade points and use your normal "level up" points for the ones that require only 1. I didn't get "super powerful" until near the last 1/4 of the game, and up until then you have to use strategy properly. If you are an RPG fan, this is a must buy. I can't wait.
